Life at the Preschool

What a typical school day looks like

We start off our day at 9:00am and end at 11:30am.

We offer a carefully planned program that is designed to ease our children's transition into Kindergarten. Upon entering Rosewood Preschool you will notice that it has been carefully designed to reflect our Philosophy. We have a large room with serveral activity centers focusing on different areas of child development. The puzzle area and reading Nook, puppet theatre, dress up and kitchen play area, block castle & Train table. These areas are designed to develop your childs imagination through make believe play.

Every week or two our teacher has a different lesson planned, she reads a book and has a craft that follows the theme. Sometimes we have very special themes because a visitor has come to teach us something new about their profession. In the past we have had firefighters, police officers, farmers, and Veterinarians. Our class has even been invited to the Kindergartens story time introducing our preschoolers to the big kids classroom environment.

Circle time includes songs, calendar, weather, group discussions, stories and "show n tell". Here the children are offered the opportunity to enhance their speaking and listening skills. 

Gross motor development is encouraged in our daily trips to the gym or the school playground. Organized games are planned for these times offering your child an additional opportunity to engage in co-operative play and understanding and following rules. All of our Activities are presented in a structured, safe and supervised manner giving your child a strong foundation for his/her future education.
